Kristen Boncore Designer kboncore@design1kb.com Kristen has worked as a designer since graduating from Mount Ida College in 2012. After graduating, she jumped into residential design at Ethan Allen as a design consultant. It was there that she put together entire spaces from furniture to accessories. She scheduled home consultations where she took site measurements, and got an overall feel for the home and homeowners personal style. She then took her knowledge back to the showroom to put together a new space that complimented the existing spaces in the home, but also have a flare all its own. After some time at Ethan Allen, Kristen was contacted by her career advisor from college regarding a career change opportunity she simply could not pass up. She began working at Design 1 in late 2013, and learns better ways to design with each new project. She will walk you through your kitchen or bath design, and lead you towards the style and finishing’s that suit your personality and lifestyle best. Kristen prides herself on designing for the end user both for functionality purposes as well as style. She uses her knowledge of materials to point each individual client in the right direction to suit their lifestyle. For her, there is no such thing as a minute detail. Some of her favorite aspects of designs include lighting and paint colors. As far as she’s concerned, paint is a major aspect of a space and can severely impact the other materials of the spaces such as cabinetry and tile. Her goal is to select each material down to the hardware so that each piece compliments each other and creates an overall complete space.

Eliza Bigelow Designer ebigelow@design1kb.com Eliza grew up in a small town in Northern Vermont. In 2011 she moved to Boston after being accepted to Wentworth Institute of Technology, where she graduated with her Bachelors in Science of Interior Design in 2015. At WIT the interior design curriculum included several studios where she was able to design both residential and commercial spaces. These diverse areas aided in her decision to focus on residential design where she is able to help a person design a space that resembles them and is built for their needs. While obtaining her degree she had the opportunity to gain real world experience, throughout various CO-OPs. Her first at Weston Design, where she got to apply her color and space planning knowledge. Then her senior year CO-OP at the facilities department at MIT she was able to apply more of the technical knowledge she had learned to measure spaces and work in design software’s such as Revit and AutoCAD. A semester she spent abroad in Berlin, Germany allowed her access to various design and culture throughout Europe. Upon graduating Eliza was offered an associate designer position at Zen Associates where the focus was on high end residential design. Here she assisted the senior interior designer to produce CAD drawings, specify furniture, fixtures & equipment. She had the opportunity to work directly with clients, contractors, and vendors in the industry. Eliza joined the Design 1 team in July of 2018. Her experiences thus far have allowed her to gain and expand her knowledge in residential design. One principle that has been ingrained in her from school is the phrase “form follows function” by architect Louis Sullivan. This she finds important in any area of design, but when she is looking at how to design a client’s kitchen or bathroom she looks at how the space is used and how to enhance each space with the end user in mind.

Kate Williams Designer kwilliams@design1kb.com Kate has worked as a designer since graduating from Endicott College in 2020 with a Master’s in Interior Architecture. She worked as a junior designer in both interior design and architecture firms on the North Shore for almost three years before landing at Design 1. After working on “soup to nuts“ interior design projects – from space planning to furniture selections, window treatments, wallpaper, lighting, hardware, rugs and so much more; she knew she wanted to hone her skills by working at a Kitchen & Bath showroom. Her experience has allowed her to build relationships with representatives and contractors in the field along with applying her knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Photoshop Software. Her designs are driven by function and how spaces make the end user feel. This is largely due to her Human Services background – She graduated from Assumption College’s Undergraduate Program in 2012 with a Major in Human Services & Rehabilitation Studies along with a Minor in Psychology. Her professional background in both fields has allowed her the ability to truly listen to her clients and find creative solutions to their design needs.
